Beginner Sewing Workshops
for Kids: aged 8 - 16
Week 1: Wednesday 24th Sept - Friday 26th Sept
Week 2: Tuesday 30th Sept - Friday 3rd Oct
9:30am - 12:30pm
Our School Holiday Programme Workshops introduce kids to the wonderful world of sewing in a structured and supportive environment. These beginner-friendly workshops cover the basics - from threading the machine to sewing achievable projects. ‘Getting Started’ is about learning how to thread and use the machine safely while sewing a simple project. ‘Master the Basics’ and ‘Master the Details’ is building on their skills to sew other projects while learning new techniques. Led by a trained primary school teacher and a skilled assistant, you can be sure that your child will have a memorable workshop filled with loads of learning AND a finished project.
If your child has never sewn before then ‘Getting Started’ is a must, after that they can sign up for any of the ‘Master the Basics’ or ‘Master the Details’ workshops in any week.
Included: All fabric, tools and equipment, as well as a hot chocolate and a snack from one of our local cafes.
Week 1: Day by Day Breakdown
Wednesday 24th Sept :
Getting Started - Cushion Cover
If your child is new to sewing then this day is a MUST! Your child will be introduced to the world of sewing. They will get hands-on experience learning to thread and sew basic stitches on the sewing machine. By the end of the morning, they will have sewn their own cushion cover for their bed.
Thursday 23rd Sept: SOLD OUT
Master the Basics - Tote Bag
This is all about building on their skills to understand how shapes fit together. By the end of the morning they will have cut and sewn together their own tote bag.
Friday 26th Sept:
Master the Details - Personalised Bookmark
Master the Details is about using a simple pattern and learning how interfacing is used to give strength to fabric. By the end of the morning they will have sewn their own personalised bookmarks.

Getting Started - Hair Accessories
If your child is new to sewing then this day is a MUST! Your child will be introduced to the world of sewing. They will get hands-on experience learning to thread and sew basic stitches on the sewing machine. By the end of the morning, they will have sewn their own bow clips and headbands.
Wednesday 1st Oct:
Master the Basics - Buntings
This workshop is all about building on their skills to understand how shapes fit together and how bias binding is used. By the end of the morning they will have cut and sewn together their own bunting to hang in their bedroom.
Thursday 2nd Oct:
Master the Details - Pencil Case
Master the Details is about using a simple pattern, learning how to sew a quilting stitch and sew in a zip. By the end of the morning they will have sewn their own padded pencil case.
Friday 3rd Oct:
Master the Details - Book Sleeve
Master the Details is about using a simple pattern, learning how to sew a quilting stitch and sew in a tie. By the end of the morning they will have sewn their own padded book sleeve.
Intermediate Sew Beyond Basics Mini Course for Kids: aged 8 - 16

Ready to take your sewing skills to the next level? Our mini course is perfect for the kids who have completed numerous workshops in ‘Master the Basics’, ‘Master the Details’ or attend Kids Sewing Club.
In this more advanced course, kids will learn how to work from a simple garment pattern of their choice. They’ll be guided through choosing the right size, types of fabric and how to read and follow the instructions. The young sewers will gain confidence in developing their sewing skills while fostering independence.
By the end of the course, they'll have created their own garment/s. As they are working on an ongoing project, it is recommended they attend at least ‘All about Patterns’ and ‘Techniques Step by Step’.
Included: All fabric, tools and equipment needed, as well as a hot chocolate and a snack from one of our local cafes.
Intermediate Sew Beyond Basics: Day by Day Breakdown
Monday 22nd Sept
All about Patterns
They’ll start by choosing a simple garment pattern and learn how to choose their sizing. They will learn how to trace, cut, read and prep for their garment sewing.
Tuesday 23rd Sept
Techniques Step by Step
With their fabric pieces cut, sewers will begin their sewing with support in a range of techniques. They will be encouraged to ask questions, give things a go and do their best.
Wednesday 24th Sept
Finishing Touches
This is all about the finishing touches and completing their garments. By the end of the workshop, they’ll have a one-of-a-kind finished piece to take home with pride!
